Returned both kits to HIDS4U and refunds agreed for both. Ho hum, steady does it at night from now on then.

Why Ethel was burning #2
The great HID headlight saga has ended in near disaster. The original lamp burned out producing acrid smoke whilst riding along. The replacement burned out upon fitting. This time I decided enough is enough and removed the entire system only to discover this ! The acrid smoke seemed too dense to have come from the lamp alone and so it was. This is a switch unit that is part of the original kit that has fried itself. On the basis that BMW engineer everything I should have known better - if the bike had needed HID then they would have fitted it.

Why Ethel was burning rubber #1
Just refitted the wheels after having new tyres and found this ! Often wondered where the smell came from. Its a non standard rear mud flap fitted at the swinging arm end and was fouling the tyre.

Blankenheim trip costs
The 4 days came to £366 all up to include tunnel, fuel for Ethel and me + hotel. We did around 1450 miles at a cost of £174 so that makes it 60 mpg ! Amazing but then Ethel purring along at 140 kph all day long is what she was built for.

English summer
Yesterdays dry and sunny return run from Blankenheim really was a weather window. Here is todays grim rainy outlook from home.
